These Fries Aren’t From France

February 1, 2011

When you go to most restaurants  or fast-food places, you usually get a side of plain salted fries with your burger or sandwich. Although these still taste good, I personally prefer the better tasting sweet potato fries with my meal.

Sweet Potato fries in the oven

Sweet potato fries are pretty hard to find in a restaurant, so I am going to show you how to make this delicious side that fits well with a lot of great lunch or dinner meals.

First, here are the ingredients:

  • 1 sweet potato
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of chopped basil leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt
  • ground black pepper

  1. First you preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit
  2. Then you cut up the sweet potato into small fry shaped pieces
  3. Put the potato fries in a bowl and mix them in olive oil coating them nicely
  4. Place the fries onto a baking sheet fitting them as close as possible without them touching each other
  5. Put them in the oven for 45 minutes or until a golden brown
  6. While in the oven, combine salt, basil, and pepper in a small bowl
  7. Take fries out and sprinkle them with the basil mixture
  8. ENJOY!!
